I’m happy about the things we did right.

And sorry for the things we did wrong.

Learning. Hope to do better on the next show.

#GLTAS, #GLTAS ladies, #mea culpa

“Mea Culpa” — an acknowledgment of one’s fault or error.

I can’t express enough what wonderful creators the Fanterns are lucky enough to have. They have from early on encouraged and engaged the fans, been vocally appreciative of positive responses, and acknowledged criticism fairly and with grace.

Worth noting, writer Ernie Altbacker also responded, saying this was “Good stuff!”

Love you guys.

ahaha aha… TuT It’s funny how some think that Galia isn’t sexualized coz body type and outfit~ LOOK AT HER! The disparity on male and female anatomy is astounding. Look at those long legs, and arms, and small torso. She IS a cookie-cutter, hourglass female body type… just expanded in width. She looks so out of place anatomy-wise. I wonder if their species lay eggs. I would prefer her to be round like her male counterpart.
I don’t think I can let this go even though she is an alien.

you seem to misunderstand what “sexualized” means.
It’s okay, it’s a common misconception, but the article you’re probably referring to was not talking about her body type (which it IS something to marvel at because we barely ever get thicker women in Bruce Timm style and while I would love what you put on the table, I at least appreciate what we can get), but it was talking about her clothing.
Somewhat similar to Tamerans (Starfire’s planet in case you don’t know), the thing is about equal exposure of skin. Galia may be bearing her midriff and whatnot, but the male counterpart outfit shows and equal  amount of skin. This is what is what they say when she isn’t sexualized amongst her species. The men aren’t covered head to toe in armor and then the women wearing nothing but a loincloth. It’s equal and apart of their culture.
Kindly don’t laugh at an argument you misunderstood, because it was a very well written article that you’re referring to.

That article is talking mostly about clothing. Personally, I do not have a problem with that. Here, I am talking about anatomy. Bruce Timm already drew Granny Goodness and Amanda Waller for Justice League Unlimited (the tv animation series). Just a bit more would suffice.
Since I would think that Galia’s species would be akin to rhinos—being round, tough, and heavy built—it’s logical to have the females to be like that as well. But for some odd reason, they gave her the hour-glass figure and a rather different skeletal structure. I would consider that sexualization. That every female of her species is of the same body type doesn’t change my mind.
If they were insect-types, I would be more forgiving(but then females should be larger).

To be honest, that article was very well written. But they were mostly talking about clothing as he said. The anatomy point was left out. Your version of possible female anatomy is way way WAY better, but what we get is not that bad. It was no doubt sexualized, but at least they did not give her Earth human Barbie face.
…Kilowog would totally find the middle version a lot more attractive than the right. XDDDDDDDDD
Now I really want to know if they lay eggs.

Just between us, Kilowog was mostly into her because of the soup.
She makes REALLY good soup.

Ah yes~  The way to his heart, indeed.
So~ Do they also lay eggs?
Edited: Granny Goodness, not Mother Mae Eye.

Who? The Zor?  They’re aliens.  The males lay the eggs and then both genders take turns sitting on them.

I still find it refreshing that Galia was a bad ass warrior lady but was also shown to have traditionally-feminine skills like cooking and it was no way remarked on in the show as contradictory to be good at/proud of/enjoy doing both.

GLTAS Oan Standard Language

So, over a year ago I sat down with over a half dozen screencaps of the scene in “Fear Itself” and hand-drew the characters and went through it back and forth until I had decoded the 17 clearly visible characters in that scene to their English equivalents. [link]

A few weeks later, “Flight Club” aired, including a scene where Appa Ali Apsa threw out a literal wall of the Oan code-text. I promised myself to translate it later and hope it covered more of the missing letters. Unlike the scene in “Fear Itself”, there was no real indication of what the expect that text to say, and the sheer amount of it was daunting.

Inbetweethelineart recently reminded me of the unfinished translation so I started it up. Based o the characters I already knew, I caught that the text in Appa’s scene was all upside down — because Appa is a prat, I assumed. I set about re-drawing all of the characters fresh off the screencaps and ended up with 26 characters! Happy days. Now to try to work out what the new letters might equate to by educated guessing…

Appa’s screencap (once flipped) started with just a straight list of A to Z and then continues with random sequences of the alphabet only slightly out of order. Queue the unexpectedly easy button and much laughter at my own procrastination up until now!

That cheeky GLTAS Crew!

That was fun.

About time I got this done! ;)

The 2013 GLTAS wall calendar is available on Amazon here and here.

I picked up the Green Lantern the Animated Series calendar today! The image for June is Razer & the Red Lanterns (which sounds like a killer name for a band).

HOLY FRICK WANT

Also who was the person who translated the words Aya projected on the wall in ep 8???? Can they translate these????

That was me. I’ll take a stab at it tonight. Hit me via ask if I don’t.

Or now. I could do that now. Using my (ElfGrove) alphabet matrix from several months back…

image

It’s a bit wonky and it’s hard to make out either due to the shooping on the image and/or poor definition, but it looks more or less like it’s bits of Aya’s re-write of the red lantern oath up there.

Aya’s in-episode text directly translated as:

THE POWER CRIMSON RED
LEAD SOUL FROM DREAD
HEAL DEEPEST WOUNDS HATE
LET NO ONE [EL]SE DECIDE
[Y]OU[R] FATE

Educated guess:

WOUNDS HEAL [image] WOUNDS HEAL

[LEA]D SOUL [imageSOUL

DECIDE [image] NO

R[ED] [image] [TH]E P[OWER]

[I don’t know what happened here, looks like A, then D and L combined, then an L] [image] [LEA]D SO[UL]
