Reminder that it is incredibly rude and inconsiderate to reblog a post that is only about GLTAS and celebrating GLTAS and derail it and talk about a different show.

Please respect the Fanterns being allowed to have a thing go right and let us be happy about that without side tracking posts for your other agendas. If you feel the need to discuss the other agenda, please make a new post and do not tag it as GLTAS unless you are actually addressing something of concern to the Green Lantern fans. Please be considerate to your fellow fans, and don’t be that person.

GLTAS Hal-O-Lantern Week 2013

How to participate: On or after the dates listed, post a fanart, fanfic, graphics, amvs, craft project, whatever suits your talents using Green Lantern: The Animated Series characters to the tag #GLTAS HalOLantern. We’re removing the dashes from the hashtag because Tumblr cannot search hashtags with dashes consistently. You can also submit posts to GreenLantern-TAS here.

GreenLantern-TAS will reblog/post all of the participants we see.

Prompts:

  • Sunday Oct 27 — Orange October: Lanterns, Pumpkins, Candy Corn, etc
  • Monday Oct 28 — Scary Movie Night
  • Tuesday Oct 29 — Sinestro Corps: Halloween is all about fear, right?
  • Wednesday Oct 30 — Costume Party
  • Thursday Oct 31 — Black Lanterns/Blackest Night [info]
  • Friday Nov 1 — Superstitions/Traditions [ideas]
  • Saturday Nov 2 — Haunted: ghost stories, haunted locations, seances, etc

Most importantly, have fun Fanterns! I’m looking forward to what you create!

A Hopeful Request from your Mod

Evidently, the Young Justice finale promo screencaps were already leaked and posted by multiple sources without so much as a spoiler tag.

GLTAS Fanterns, I implore you — if you get a hold of our promo material before the episode airs and cannot resist posting it, PLEASE put it under a “Read More” cut on a text post or as a link to the content off site. This is the final episode, basically any content is going to be spoilery in nature, and a lot of fans want to go into the finale without spoilers. Spoiler tags are great, but due to recent Tumblr upgrades, Tumblr Savior is broken for many users and it had never worked for mobile users, so please avoid posting any content from the episode where it is visible on your dash without a click-through. It’s just a matter of kindness and respect to your fellow Fanterns.

A Quick Guide for New Fanterns…

I haven’t updated one of these in 7 months, so it seems like a good time to make a fresh one.

Here’s some tips and fun details!

  1. There’s just over a half dozen tags attributed to the show, but the most popularly used tag is GLTAS.
  2. Fans of “Green Lantern: The Animated Series" are nicknamed "Fanterns". The fan community was christened by the producer Giancarlo Volpe and the voice of Hal Jordan, Josh Keaton.
  3. The GLTAS creators, crew, and actors are very interactive in a very positive way with the Fantern community. We like to keep the interaction positive, so play nice! Here’s just a few of them with a public presence in the community.
  4. Be forewarned: Ceiling Giancarlo sees everything.
  5. We here at GreenLantern-TAS tag posts obsessively check the list out to learn running fandom in jokes and find out fun facts. The list always needs updating — so if you’re ever looking for something, just ask, we probably have an unlisted tag to be able to find it.
  6. Razaya or AyaXRazer is the tag we use to track our Razer/Aya ship.
  7. When tracking the Aya tag, it is heavily recommended you get Tumblr Savior as Aya is a very common name. You may also end up blocking people as you go further down the Aya tag.
  8. When tracking the Razer tag it is recommended you get Tumblr Savior and block out the words: game, gamer, gaming, mouse, headset
  9. Razer is a Sad Rage Zebra Bunny
  10. Saint Walker is also known as Saint Flawless
  11. Hal Jordan is also called PapaHal
  12. Kilowog is also known as KiloDad
  13. Aya and Iolande are our queens.

DC Nation fans who record the Cartoon Network programming block on their DVR or Tivo may be in for a surprise if they don’t check the set up on their devices.  Reportedly at least one programming guide doesn’t not list the upcoming episodes as new, perhaps as confused by the hiatus as viewers have been since the network abruptly stopped airing the shows back in October.  What this could mean is that your recording device might consider them repeats and if you’ve set up the device to only record new episodes you might find yourself without the new shows sitting on your device’s hard drive.

A recommendation would be to check your device’s upcoming recording schedule to make sure the episodes are still scheduled to record over the next several weeks.  You should be able to manually add them from your program guide, but a word of warning about looking at the program guide’s episode descriptions.  Apparently spoiler filled loglines were released and there’s just no knowing where they might show up, so be prepared to ignore the episode descriptions if you can.

Thanks for the reminder, Blog of Oa!

We are removing the episode summaries post sourced from WFO in respect to Producer Giancarlo Volpe’s wishes. Whomever wrote the episode summaries was not a member of GLTAS staff and has FAR overstepped the boundaries of respect to the integrity of the story with the amount of spoilers laid out in the summaries.

We encourage fellow Fanterns to do the same and stop spreading the spoilers.

With the season 1.5 premiere bearing down on us, a quick reminder Fanterns!

GreenLantern-TAS follows this general spoiler policy. Obviously, we’ve been reblogging promo stuff as we got our hands on it the last couple of months, but with the show returning to a regular schedule, so do our rules of conduct. We will not reblog or post anything with content/spoilers from the episode outside the promotional clips until 1 week after the episode airs. When we do post content from an episode, it will be tagged with the episode’s title. This Saturday’s upcoming episode 14 is #The New Guy, you can Tumblr Savior that for our posts.

Fellow Fanterns, not everyone will be able to watch first thing Saturday morning. Some people DVR, record, wait for the Sunday morning showing, or subscribe to digital subscriptions which don’t actually release the episode until a few days after it airs (late Monday/early Tuesday on Amazon Instant Video). Please be considerate and tag your posts #Spoilers, #GLTAS Spoilers, and/or #The New Guy or put images and spoilery commentary under a read-more cut! Thanks!

I think this is an important reminder today as people buy “Steam Lantern” via iTunes. Remember to tag your spoilers! As of right now, “Steam Lantern” content will be spoilers for the average viewer until January.

Okay Fanterns. I just woke up, and there’s bad news coming in from the East coast.
Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Young Justice are NOT airing today. Apparently, as a part of celebrating Cartoon Network’s birthday, their new episodes have been pre-empted by How To Train Your Dragon (on Saturday) and Johnny Test (on Sunday) reruns. The current schedule on the Cartoon Network website indicates that this will be true both this week and next. There has been no press release nor other formal announcement from Cartoon Network. The people who run the official Twitter accounts likely won’t be on until Monday morning. The schedule change appears to have only been pushed out to the Cartoon Network website around 10 hours ago.
The creators are just as confused as we are. Giancarlo Volpe did an interview with USA Today this week promoting the “Steam Lantern” episode airing today. The creator of DC Nation short Amethyst, Princess of Gemworld has been promoting it starting this week via various comic fan outlets. This is a waste of very good publicity.
What can we do? Make #DCNation trend on Twitter asking what happened and where it’s gone. Send tweets to @CartoonNetwork and @DC_Nation voicing your displeasure. And, contact Cartoon Network via thier official feedback page. Keep it clean and polite as you possibly can, but let’s flood those inboxes and tags.
